Coordinating Support for Veterans Living Overseas

Australian Defence Force Veterans – Overseas Household Services (ADFV-OHS) assists eligible Australian veterans living overseas to access support services funded through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA).

Our role is to coordinate the practical delivery of services approved under DVA programs such as:

  • Household Services
  • Attendant Care

These services help veterans whose accepted service-related conditions affect their ability to manage domestic tasks or daily living activities.

How ADFV-OHS Works

ADFV-OHS assists veterans by coordinating the entire process of accessing and delivering approved support services.

1. Initial Discussion

We begin by discussing your circumstances and identifying which services may be appropriate based on your accepted conditions and current situation. This helps determine whether Household Services, Attendant Care, or other support may be relevant.

2. Claim Preparation

Where required, ADFV-OHS can assist with preparing and coordinating DVA claims.

This may include:

  • Assisting with claim documentation
  • Coordinating supporting medical information
  • Ensuring applications align with DVA requirements.

3. Identifying Suitable Providers

Once services are approved, ADFV-OHS assists in identifying suitable local providers in the veteran’s location.

Providers may include:

  • Domestic service providers
  • Gardening or property maintenance services
  • Personal care providers.

4. Service Coordination

ADFV-OHS coordinates the scheduling of services to ensure they operate within the approval limits determined by DVA.

These approvals are typically based on:

  • The time allocated for each task
  • The frequency of services
  • Applicable financial limits under the relevant legislation.

5. Invoicing and Payment Management

ADFV-OHS manages invoicing and payment coordination with service providers. This helps ensure services are delivered in accordance with DVA requirements while reducing the administrative burden on the veteran.

Supporting Veterans Overseas

Organising services outside Australia can often be difficult. Veterans living overseas may face challenges such as:

  • Identifying reliable providers
  • Managing service schedules
  • Coordinating payments
  • Ensuring compliance with DVA requirements.

ADFV-OHS assists by coordinating these services so veterans can access their entitlements without unnecessary administrative complexity.

Ask for Assistanc

Whether you are already receiving support or preparing to lodge a claim, ADFV-OHS can assist in coordinating the services you are entitled to through DVA. Our support is free to eligible veterans, with services funded through existing DVA entitlements.
