Household Services are funded by the Australian Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) to assist veterans whose accepted service-related conditions affect their ability to maintain their home environment.
These services help veterans remain safe and independent in their homes by providing practical assistance with domestic tasks.

Approval is based on the functional impact of accepted service-related conditions, not simply age or convenience.
Household Services are currently available to eligible veterans under the following legislation:
Veterans whose accepted conditions affect their ability to manage household tasks may be eligible to receive support through these programs.
Legislative changes scheduled to take effect on 1 July 2026 will expand access to certain support programs for additional groups of veterans.
In particular, some veterans assessed under the Veterans’ Entitlements Act (VEA) may become eligible to seek Household Services support from this date.
Claims from VEA veterans cannot be lodged before 1 July 2026, however many veterans are preparing their claims in advance due to the expected increase in demand once applications open.
Successful Household Services claims normally require clear evidence that accepted service-related conditions prevent the veteran from performing specific household tasks.
